Voluma® in New Jersey

The aging process can change how your face looks and feels, which may affect your self-confidence. If you see lines and wrinkles in your face, as well as loss of cheek volume and skin sagging, Juvederm Voluma may be the solution.

What is Voluma?

Voluma is a popular dermal filler and volumizer that can increase the fullness and youthful glow of your face to help you look younger. The filler contains hyaluronic acid that increases the production of collagen in your face.

Voluma can naturally fill in lines, wrinkles, and hollows and makes the face look years younger.

After your injections, the filler fills in lost volume in the cheeks, chin, lips, and other areas. It also encourages your body to make more collagen, which also restores volume and plumpness to reduce signs of aging.

Voluma is made with hyaluronic acid, which is found in the joints’ eyes, skin, and synovial fluid. Hyaluronic acid retains moisture, fills in hollow parts of the face, and increases volume immediately.

Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance and is why people who have these injections don’t need as many follow-up procedures as with Botox. Some patients’ Voluma injections last a year or more!

Its ability to increase collagen production also helps the skin’s structure over time and makes it more elastic, which helps you look younger. While the results are dramatic, the effects are subtle, so your friends, family, and colleagues probably won’t notice you had anything done.

Voluma Procedure

Voluma New JerseyIf you consider Voluma injections, your healthcare provider will set up a consultation. They will talk with you about your aging concerns and determine if Juvederm Voluma will help you achieve your goals.

The doctor will mark your face with a pen to target the correct areas during the session. Then, they will clean the treatment areas and apply topical anesthetic to reduce discomfort when the filler is injected.

Once the skin is ready, your doctor will inject smaller amounts of filler in the treatment areas. Small injections are used to carefully control how much filler is injected, which gives you the best results.

The entire injection process takes between 15 and 30 minutes. Voluma contains a small amount of lidocaine to reduce pain. Most patients don’t feel anything but mild stinging when the product is injected.

Voluma Benefits

As we age, we start to lose collagen in the skin, which makes the face slowly lose volume and structure. Aging usually affects the fattier areas of the face, such is the checks.

Cheeks start to become less prominent and look more hollow as soft tissues face the effects of gravity. This process is one of the biggest things that make our faces look older. The cheeks may become flatter, but Voluma can make a big difference.

The most significant benefit of Voluma injections is it increases facial volume. Voluma plumps the face, such as the cheeks, which tend to hollow out and lose tissue as the years pass.

Also, Voluma contains hyaluronic acid, which encourages collagen production in the skin. This helps your skin to maintain the results over many months, even after the Voluma is absorbed by the body.

This dermal filler also helps the skin to retain moisture and fullness to improve your appearance without surgery.

The filler is made to provide extended results and may one or even two years. You can maintain the results better if you eat a healthy diet and drink plenty of water.

Voluma treatments require little recovery and you can go back to your routine the same day as your treatment.

It’s rare that someone doesn’t like Voluma injection results, but if you don’t, the product can be removed with a special enzyme.

Ideal Candidates For Voluma

Ideal candidates for Voluma injections have lines and wrinkles in the face as well as lost volumein the cheeks. If your skin is healthy and your aren’t breastfeeding, pregnant, or have severe allergies, you probably are a good candidate.

Anyone over 21 can use Voluma, but people who get the best results are often between 30 and 40. However, you can have Voluma injections when you are older than 40 and still have good results.

Other people who are good candidates for Voluma are those who want fewer cosmetic treatments that are easy to maintain. Voluma results can last up to a year and you probably don’t need as many touch-ups as with Botox.

Many patients prefer Voluma because it means fewer trips to the healthcare provider and is cost-effective. If you want to save money and have impressive results, Voluma could be for you.

Voluma results usually last longer than other fillers, but how long they last depend on your age, anatomy, and how much volume you have lost. Younger people may have two years of results, while older patients may need a touch-up after 12 to 18 months.

Ideal patients also want the most natural-looking results. You can be confident that Voluma will give you a natural, subtle improvement once the filler settles in after a few days.

Most people won’t even know you had anything done, and the results are subtle enough that it doesn’t look as if you had major work done suddenly. On the other hand, if you have a facelift, people can usually notice the sudden significant change in your face.

Preparation For Voluma

Before your treatment, talk to your doctor about your aesthetic goals and expectations. What bothers you about how your face looks as you age? Be honest with your doctor and they’ll tell you if Voluma may give you what you want.

Fortunately, Voluma injections are minimally invasive and they are often done the same day as your consultation.

However, you should avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, and other medications that can thin the blood. Also, don’t drink alcohol for at least a week before treatments, and don’t smoke either. Both habits can increase bruising.

Voluma Risks And Complications

Injecting dermal fillers such as Voluma is safe and effective, but all treatments have risks and side effects.

Most side effects are mild and only last a day or two, such as temporary redness and irritation in the treatment area. Others experience mild swelling and bruising, or itching.

People who have severe allergies of any kind, especially an allergy to lidocaine, shouldn’t use Voluma. There are other fillers and injectables to consider if you are allergic to this product.

Voluma Recovery

After your Voluma injections, you can walk out of the medical office and return to your customary activities. Some patients get injections at lunch and go right back to work.

Recovery time is negligible as is swelling and bruising. You will need to avoid alcohol and tobacco products for a few days as you recover.

Also, avoid direct sunlight for three or four days because it can cause swelling and bruising. If you need to be in the sun, wear SPF30 sunscreen or better.

Playing sports, jogging, hot yoga and other strenuous activities should be avoided for the first week.

You also should not wear makeup for about 12 hours and stay out of the sun for the first two weeks after treatment.

Complementary Procedures

If you have Voluma injections, you may consider other facial procedures simultaneously to enhance your transformation. Doing so allows you to have all of your recovery completed at one time, which is both cost- and time-effective.

Voluma FAQ

Below are some of the most common questions about Voluma injections:

What Is A Facial Filler?

Facial fillers such as Voluma are gels that occur naturally and injected into the face to increase volume in aging skin. It also can fill the lips, remove wrinkles, lines, and folds.

Voluma is made of hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the skin. Once it is injected, it works by improving facial fullness and volume.

How Is Voluma Injected?

During your procedure, the doctor will inject the crystal-clear gel into your face in tiny amounts with a small needle. The gel increases volume where wrinkles are and they are smoothed out.

If Voluma is used to increase lip or cheek volume, it will increase the size of those areas gradually.

What Should I Not Do After Voluma Injections?

You shouldn’t exercise or be exposed to the sun for at least a day to reduce swelling and bruising. It helps if you use ice packs on the treatment area to reduce swelling.

Also, do not lie down or bend over for at least 24 hours. When sleeping, elevate your head so the Voluma doesn’t migrate from the treatment site.

What Should I Do After Voluma Injections?

Use ice to reduce swelling on the treatment areas and you can use makeup after 24 hours. Most patients don’t have significant swelling, however.

Can Voluma Migrate?

Yes, it can migrate within a few hours of the injections, which is why you should stay upright as much as possible for the first several hours. Lying down or bending over can make the filler migrate before it bonds with the facial tissues.

What Does Voluma Do For Collagen Production?

It stimulates your body to produce collagen so you won’t need as many touch-ups as with Botox. Because it lasts longer, you need fewer appointments and it’s less expensive.

How Can I Prevent Bruising?

A skilled healthcare professional who knows how to inject the product gently can help to avoid most bruising.

You can reduce bruising by not taking fish oil, aspirin, and ibuprofen for a few days before the treatment. And don’t drink alcohol or smoke several days in advance, too.

What If I Don’t Like The Results?

Voluma is made from hyaluronic acid so it can be dissolved at any time with a special enzyme. It’s rare that the patient wants the product removed, but it is possible.

How Long Until I See Voluma Results?

You will see results as soon as the session is over, but the results will improve over several hours.

What Will I Look Like After Voluma Injections?

You may have slight redness, swelling, itching, and tenderness in the treatment areas. These symptoms are normal and will fade after two or three days. If the lips are treated, they may be slightly swollen for a few days.

Can Dermal Fillers Replace Cosmetic Surgery?

Voluma can produce impressive results that fill out wrinkles and fine lines, as well as increase facial volume. But it isn’t a replacement for cosmetic surgery.

How Common Are Side Effects?

Adverse reactions to Voluma injections are very low. Any tenderness, redness, swelling, and bruising should dissipate after a few days.

Can Men Have Voluma Treatments?

Yes. Men can have just as impressive results as men. But men’s cheekbone structure is different than women’s, so you should choose a skilled provider who often treats male patients.
