Belotero Balance Frequently Asked Questions
Your face may have been supple and smooth years ago due to natural elasticity and a wealth of elastin and collagen stored in your body. As you age, your skin loses firmness and elasticity as these natural nutrients become depleted, which leads to visible symptoms of aging, such as facial lines and wrinkles. At our practice in East Brunswick, NJ, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Smita Ramanadham offers a number of aesthetic and dermatological treatments, such as Belotero Balance injectable wrinkle filler. Belotero is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to help improve the appearance of fine to deep wrinkles and lines throughout the face, which includes persistent, deep-seated lines, as well as the nasolabial folds around the mouth. A nonsurgical solution, Belotero is a hyaluronic acid (HA) product that offers a natural, refreshed look.
"Dr. Ramanadham is one of the most skilled and compassionate doctors I have ever seen. She produced fantastic results with the treatments she recommended, and she also was clear in steering me away from other treatments that I thought I wanted but she didn't think I needed or would work well for me. I have seen her for botox treatments and skin care advice and treatments for over two years."- _. / RealSelf / Feb 07, 2019

"Beautiful and clean office. Dr. Ramanadham is extremely knowledgeable and informative. I had some questions on some trouble spots I wanted to address and she was patient in explaining all my options. I also appreciate that she didn’t push anything I didn’t want, like many doctors in my past have done. I feel very happy with the work I ended up getting done and would and do recommend her to as many people as I can. Her office staff, Jodi, is extremely personable as well and makes my visits a very pleasurable experience!"- C.F. / Google / Jan 07, 2020

Belotero injections are fantastic if you want to improve the appearance of fine to deep facial lines, wrinkles, and folds without the time and expense of surgery. Belotero is most beneficial for lines around the lips and mouth, such as the nasolabial folds. Prior to the procedure, Dr. Ramanadham will perform a consultation to go over your medical history, current medications, and known allergies to decide if you are a good candidate for Belotero.
After your consultation, you will be escorted to our treatment area to undergo your procedure. Belotero is injected with a very small needle so many individuals do not need a numbing cream or local anesthesia, but it is available upon request to further minimize discomfort. The injection sites will be marked and prepared before Belotero is injected in several, quick applications. Pressure will be applied to the injection sites for a few moments to control any bleeding, but you will then be free to return to your daily activities.
What to Expect with Belotero Balance®
Following your Belotero treatments at our practice, you might have some mild swelling, redness, or bruising around the injection sites — these symptoms will fade in the coming days. You will see some immediate results after your Belotero treatment that will continue developing in the weeks following the procedure. Belotero results typically last around six months so speak with Dr. Ramanadham about when to schedule your next appointment to enhance or maintain your results.
Belotero Balance Ideal Candidates
How much does it cost?
The price of your Belotero treatment will vary based on the amount of filler needed to create your optimal results. During your initial consultation, Dr. Ramanadham will be able to evaluate your profile and formulate a personalized procedure plan. She can then offer an estimate of your costs and identify all of your payment options.
How does it work?
Each filler that is currently on the market today comes with their own set of benefits. Though many dermal fillers utilize hyaluronic acid, Belotero works differently to correct severe folds and wrinkles in the mid to deep dermis. At your consultation, Dr. Ramanadham will be better able to identify the best dermal filler to meet your needs and aesthetic goals.
Is it safe?
As an FDA-approved treatment, Belotero has been tested and validated to safely provide desired results. Having been on the market for several years, Belotero is popular for both men and women to decrease the appearance of deep nasolabial folds and smile lines.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of injectable treatments required to achieve optimal outcomes will vary between patients. For most individuals, the results from Belotero can last up to 6 – 12 months. Touch-up appointments are also available to help maintain results. Typically, these are recommended about 2 – 3 times per year.
What is the difference between a dermal filler and BOTOX?
Though both dermal fillers and BOTOX are nonsurgical injectable treatments, they work differently to provide results. BOTOX is a wrinkle relaxer that temporarily freezes the facial muscles to diminish and prevent wrinkles. Dermal fillers help to fill in fine lines and wrinkles for restored volume and fullness.
